TOURIST INFORMATION
Tips
A gratuity of 10 to 15% is expected at
restaurants and cafés. Don’t forget to tip the
lavatory attendant! Coach drivers and guides of
organized city excursions will also appreciate a
small tip very much, as will taxi drivers.
Making Phone Call
You can
make phone calls in the post office and in phone
booths. There are hardly any coin phones,
nowadays you’ll find card phones almost
everywhere. The cards (télécarte) can be
obtained in the post office or newspaper kiosks
(min. € 6).
Money/Exchange
The official currency of France is the Euro
(€) since January 1, 2002. Banks are usually
open from 9am to 4.30pm (Monday-Friday). Cash
points are found everywhere. They all take
EC-cards or credit cards. France accepts all
major credit cards.
Postal Services
The post offices of the PTT
are usually open from 8am till 9pm
(Monday-Friday) and from 8am till 12am on
Saturday. The main post office is located on Rue
du Louvre 52 (1). It is open 24 hours a day for
7 days a week.
